✦ Henley-on-Thames · online since 2014 · British-hallmarked
One-off pieces from Henley-on-Thames, hand-picked by Rodney Buckland.
Henley County Jewellers is the independent online jewellery shop of
Rodney Buckland, twelve years on the Thames, forty-two years at the
bench in total. Every piece in the shop is British-hallmarked, the
carat is stated explicitly, and most pieces are a single example
sourced from a UK designer or a small design house we have known
for years.

ONE-OFF PIECES
Rings
Eighteen-carat yellow and white gold settings for diamond pieces; nine-carat dress rings in blue topaz with peridot, sapphire, cultured pearl. Each ring is a single example, when it goes, we will not get another like it. Sourced from independent UK designers and small design houses Rodney has known for years.

STUDS, DROPS & PEARL
Earrings & pearls
Cultured-pearl studs and drops mounted in 18ct gold; coloured-gemstone studs in 9ct yellow gold, blue topaz, sapphire, citrine. Gold is acid-tested, the British hallmark is photographed alongside the piece. Earrings are non-returnable for hygiene unless faulty, so we are precise about the listing.

Pendants & bracelets
Gem-set pendants on 18ct chain, mixed yellow-and-white-gold linked bracelets, all hallmarked. Smaller stock turn than the rings because each piece is acquired one at a time from a designer's bench or an estate. We list them as we find them.

WHAT MOST JEWELLERS HAVE STOPPED CARRYING
Brooches & cufflinks
A line most modern jewellers have quietly stopped stocking. Nine-carat yellow gold cultured-pearl brooches, round-button gent's cufflinks. The kind of piece you buy because you remember your grandmother wearing one, or because you actually wear French cuffs. We keep a small steady selection.

RODNEY'S STORY · THIRTY YEARS AT THE BENCH
2014, Rodney Buckland opens Henley County Jewellers, online, from Henley-on-Thames.
Before that, thirty years in the jewellery trade. Counter work, bench
work, buying. The shop opens with a small range, diamond and platinum
pieces, silver, gemstones, hand-picked from individual makers and
small design houses Rodney has known across those three decades.
The model has not changed since. We are still small. We are still
online only. Every piece is acquired one at a time. Rodney is the
inbox you write to and the signature on the parcel. Twelve
years on the shopfront, forty-two years at the bench in total.
“A small, independent online jeweller, based in beautiful
Henley-on-Thames. We specialise in unique jewellery pieces, much of
it from individual designers or supplied by small design houses.”

BRITISH HALLMARK · BIRMINGHAM & LONDON ASSAY
The hallmark, the carat, the stone. All three, every time.
Hallmark photographed alongside the piece
Every gold piece is British-hallmarked, almost always Birmingham or London assay. For any item over £200 the hallmark is shot in close-up alongside the piece, and we send a higher-resolution close-up on request before purchase. No 'gold-coloured', no 'gold-tone', only stated 9ct or 18ct.
Stone type named, not implied
A cultured pearl is listed as cultured pearl. A blue topaz with peridot is listed as blue topaz with peridot, not as 'blue stone'. The setting metal, the carat, the country of assay and (where relevant) the designer's mark are all on the listing before you click buy.
One-only, stated honestly
Most pieces in the shop are a single example, when the listing says 'one only' that is genuinely the only piece we hold and the only one the maker produced for us. Where a piece can be re-ordered we say so explicitly, with a four-to-six week lead time from the bench.
BESPOKE · ON A SMALL SCALE
A reset, a re-mount, a piece built around a stone you already own.
Henley County is not a workshop with twelve apprentices. Bespoke
commissions come through Rodney, go out to the same independent UK
makers the stock comes from, and come back finished for hallmarking.
We take on a small number of these each quarter, a reset of an
existing diamond into a new mount, a pair of cufflinks to match an
existing brooch, a pendant built around a stone you already own.
Week 1. Email or call. Photograph and brief.Week 2 to 3. Drawing back from the maker. Quote with half on commission, half on completion.Week 4 to 10. At the bench.Week 10 to 12. Hallmarked at assay, photographed, posted to you.
Workings on paper before the maker picks up the bench tools.

FAQ · FIVE QUESTIONS RODNEY GETS MOST
Quick answers. The rest by email.
Is this piece really one-off, or can you get me another?
If the listing says 'one only' it is genuinely the only example I hold and the only one the designer made for me. The next piece from the same hand will be different, different stone, different setting. If the listing instead says 'available to re-order' I can ask the maker for a similar piece, with a four-to-six week lead time. Email me if you are not sure which category a piece falls into and I will tell you straight.
Is it hallmarked? Can I see the hallmark before I buy?
Yes. Every gold piece in the shop is British-hallmarked, almost always Birmingham or London assay. I photograph the hallmark alongside the piece for any item over £200 and I will send you a close-up shot of the marks on request before you commit. Carat is stated explicitly on every listing, 9ct or 18ct, never 'gold-coloured'.
Can I return it if it does not fit, or it does not suit?
Within 30 days of delivery, in unused condition and original packaging, yes, refund to your original payment method within 5 working days of inspection. The one exception is earrings, which we cannot exchange or refund for hygiene reasons unless they arrive faulty. If you are unsure on ring size, get in touch before ordering, I would rather we worked the sizing out by email first than ship a piece that comes straight back.
Can I commission something, not just buy from stock?
Yes, on a small scale. A reset of an existing stone into a new mount, a pair of cufflinks to match an existing brooch, a pendant built around a stone you already own. I work with the same independent makers I source stock from. Email rodney@henleycountyjewellers.co.uk with a description and a photograph and I will quote, typical lead time eight to twelve weeks, half on commission, half on completion.
Do you ship internationally? How long does UK delivery take?
UK delivery is by signed-for tracked post, two to three working days from despatch. International is by insured courier on request, quoted per parcel. Pieces over £500 ship in tamper-evident packaging with the hallmark certificate enclosed. Anything urgent, a birthday on Saturday, a Father's Day cufflink, phone me on 07903 550396 and I will despatch same-day if I can.
